Overview
On this 4-day, 3-night trip, you will visit many wonderful places in a short time. The tour starts in Fez. First, we will visit the Swiss town of Ifrane in Morocco and its cedar forests. Stop for lunch in Midelt and continue along the beautiful Ziz River. You will also visit the beautiful valleys of Dades and Todra. We then reached the Sahara Desert in Merzouga. Itinerary
The 4-day Sahara Desert tour departs from your accommodation or the airport in Fes at 8:00 in the morning with a pickup by an air-conditioned and comfortable vehicle, then we head south via Imouzer to Ifrane, known for its warmth, snow, and Alpine-style houses. We don't think it's called the Switzerland of Morocco. Then we continue towards the cedar forest where Barbary macaques live. Do not feed them while walking in the forest. Then we continue to Midelt, where we will have lunch. We then cross the Tizi-n-Tilghmt pass to Erachidia, then the Ziz River to Erachidia. From Boumalne Dades we head towards the Dades Canyon and inevitably stop at the rock formation Monkey Fingers. At the top of the hill overlooking the Dades Valley, an overnight accommodation with dinner and breakfast in a guest house, riad, or hotel.
After breakfast, we continue towards Todra Pass, where the Todra River opens a large gorge into the mountains, creating a valley of red cliffs. Feel free to take a walk in the forest and enjoy the beautiful view. Then we continue through the Touroug and Tinjdad palm trees. It's lunchtime on the road. We arrived in the Sahara Desert, Merzouga, in the afternoon. There you turn into a camel crossing the desert. You should stand on the high dune to enjoy the beautiful sunset. Then continue to the luxurious desert, where you can enjoy Berber drums and dancing around the camp under a giant star. Spend a night in a Berber tent and have a traditional Moroccan dinner.
NB: If you book a luxury tour, then you will have breakfast and shower at the desert camp; otherwise, the breakfast and the shower will be at the hotel after your camel rides back in the morning.
Wake up early to enjoy the beautiful sun of the desert. Free time for breakfast. You then take your camel back to Merzouga, where your driver is waiting. We spent the day exploring the Merzouga area. There are many amazing places in the region, from sand dunes to wild lakes, mines, fossil fields, and magnificent oases. This is the perfect place for many outdoor activities. We first started our journey in Merzouga by visiting the old eyeliner mines. Then we visit the nomads and see their tents. Learn how they live while drinking Berber tea. Our next stop is Khamliya village, where you will enjoy Gnawa music and dance performances. Its people live in sub-Saharan African countries such as Mali, Sudan, and Niger. Free time for lunch at the restaurant. Then we walked among the palm trees. Then drive a few kilometers to see the wild lake Merzouga, also known as Flamingo Lake. Spend an overnight accommodation with dinner and breakfast in a guest house, riad, or hotel.
After breakfast, we leave the desert and visit the town of Risani, the ancient city of Tafilalet. Rissani is also the main commercial center of the bustling area, with a large open-air market held on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. After visiting the Rissani Bazaar, we continue to Erfoud to visit one of the fossil stone artifacts. We then proceed along the Ziz River, stopping to admire the panoramic view of the Ziz Valley. Then we set off towards Fes via the cedar forest and Ifrane. This desert tour ends with drop-off at your accommodation or airport transfer in the city of Fes.
