Itinerary
The 5-day tour to Fes across the Morocco Sahara desert departs from your accommodation or the airport in Marrakech at 8:00 in the morning with a pickup by an air-conditioned and comfortable vehicle. Then pass through the beautiful High Atlas Mountains and the Tizi-N-Tichka Pass (2,260 meters). You must stop to admire the panoramic view of the high mountains, which also offer a big variety of landscapes of several hamlets arranged as in an amphitheater. An essential track and outstanding landscape will take us to the village of Telouet to visit the Kasbah of el Glaoui. We will continue to visit the famous Ait Ben Haddou castle. A fortified village on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Also the castle, "Soldiers," "Alexander," "Mummy," etc. He also appeared in many movies, such as. There are also TV series like Game of Thrones. Then we go to Ouarzazate, the "Gate of the Desert." Spend an overnight accommodation with dinner and breakfast in a guest house, riad, or hotel.
After breakfast, we explore the city of Ouarzazate. First, we visit Atlas Studios, where many famous films were shot, and Taourit Kasbah, a mud castle, one of the oldest and most beautiful ksars in Morocco. We then head east to visit the palm-lined Kasbah of Amridil around Skoura. Then to Kalaa Maguna, famous for its Rose Valley. At the Rose Festival held every May, local people offer rose products such as perfume, rose water, oil, and cosmetics. Then we set off towards Dades Valley via Boumalne Dades. A must-visit is the "Monkey's Finger" rock formation and the summit overlooking the Dades Valley. Spend an overnight accommodation with dinner and breakfast in a guest house, riad, or hotel in Boumanedades.
After breakfast, we continue our 5-day desert tour to Todra Canyon, where the Todra River opens a huge canyon into the mountains, creating a canyon consisting of red rocks. Feel free to take a walk in the forest and enjoy the beautiful view. Then pass through the palm forests of Touroug and Tinjdad. It's lunchtime on the road. In the afternoon we arrived in the Sahara Desert, Merzouga. There you change into a camel crossing the desert. You have to stop at the high dune to enjoy the beautiful sunset. Then go to the luxury camp in the desert. Here you can enjoy the Berber drums and dances around the camp under a giant star. Spend an overnight with dinner in a Saharan desert Beber tent situated at the feet of the dunes.
NB: If you book a luxury tour, then you will have breakfast and shower at the desert camp; otherwise, the breakfast and the shower will be at the hotel after your camel rides back in the morning.
You should wake up early to enjoy the beautiful sun in the desert. Free time for breakfast. You then take your camel back to Merzouga, where your driver is waiting. We spent this day exploring the Merzouga region. There are many amazing places in the region, from sand dunes to wild lakes, mines, fossil fields, and magnificent oases. This is the perfect place for many outdoor activities. We first started our journey in Merzouga by visiting the old eyeliner mines. Then we visit the nomads and see their tents. Learn how they live while drinking Berber tea. Our next stop is Kamliya village, where you will enjoy Gnawa music and dance performances. Its people live in sub-Saharan African countries such as Mali, Sudan, and Niger. Free time for lunch at the restaurant. Then we walked among the palm trees. Then drive a few kilometers to see the wild lake Merzouga, also known as Flamingo Lake. Spend an overnight accommodation with dinner and breakfast in a guest house, riad, or hotel.
This is the last day of your 5-day Marrakech or Fez desert tour. You wake up early to enjoy the beautiful sun in the middle of the desert. Free time for breakfast and return to Merzouga by camel, where your driver will be waiting for you. Then, we leave the desert and visit the town of Risani, the ancient city of Tafilalet. Rissani is also the main commercial center of the bustling area, with a large open-air market held on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. After visiting the Rissani Bazaar, we continue to Erfoud to visit one of the fossil stone artifacts. We then proceed along the Ziz River, stopping to admire the panoramic view of the Ziz Valley. Free lunch in Midelt. Then we continue towards the cedar forest where Barbary macaques live. Do not feed them while walking in the forest.
