The full-day trip to Imlil Valley and Berber villages departs from your accommodation in Marrakech at 9:00 a.m., heading towards the High Atlas Mountains via Tahnaouet (local market on Tuesdays), Ghighaya Valley, Moulay Brahim Gorges, and Asni (market on Saturdays) and then through terraced fields of vegetables, fruit trees, nuts, and cherries. If you have the chance to make this trip on a Saturday, your driver will stop in the village of Asni and take you on a tour of the local weekly market in Asni, which is a buzz of activity as local Berbers sell their produce and goods in this little town. Find your way through the throng of local Berbers poring over from all the surrounding villages to barter goods and animals and buy fresh vegetables, fruits, and meat for their homes.
After continuing your explorative journey towards Imlil Valley to challenge the hikes and enjoy the real Berber hospitality where the original natives still embrace their traditions and culture. You will meet your local mountain guide, who will lead you on an hour-and-a-half round-trip hike to Armed Village, the final village on the way into the High Atlas; next, have lunch of Tajine in a Berber family home or local restaurant, salad, and fresh fruit, with mineral water. You can visit the historic kasbah of Toubkal (optional), set high above the valley’s lush, explore the surrounding trails, and enjoy superb views of terraced farms. After that we take the road back to Marrakech; this excursion ends with drop-off at your accommodation in town approximately at 05:00 PM.
